Do you stand by Gillian Chung?
Gillian Chung, the first female protagonist of the scandal of Edison’s sex photos eventually stands in front of public in press conference in where she made a brief word for the incident:
“I admit that I used to be very naive and very silly, but I’ve already grown up now. I wish to thank my company,family and friends for their support. I deeply regret the trouble caused to the general public. I will work hard in the future and will positively face my life ahead.”
On the other side, her sincerity of Emperor Entertainment Group, the company to which Gillian belongs was challenged by some people with the reason that no clarification has been made for their lie in which they insisted the photos are made up by digital editing in the beginning. And some people voiced that it was just an arrangement for soothing the companies for which Gillian has been working. Furthermore, people are deeply suspicious that Gillian is all in all still acting and fooling the public in disguise of a beautiful idol since she has completely broken her integrity by lying for so long, e.g. her advocating no sex before marriage but her sluttish performance and face in the sex photos leaked out. So what do you think? Would you still support Gillian Chung? What is your reason?

I don’t know if I can say that I stand by her. I don’t think she had committed any horrible crime like how others portray her. Other than being pretty, gillian like most pop idols has no real solid talent. With her good girl image trashed, her PR people will have to come up with another one for her. The question is will a different public image still appeal to her original fan base?
It seems that they are going to pass her off as ‘one of us’ with the focus on ‘nobody is perfect and they should be forgiven if they are sorry’.
Granted that it is understandable that she would kick up a fuss at her privacy being undermined in a changing room and her private life should theoretically have no bearing on her public life, the problem is that she has always passed herself off as a sweet innocent young thing.
It is the deceiving of her fans that is unforgivable. Idol-chasers pay money to chase and support something that they thought real. Are Gillian and her PR people hoping to draw attention away from the real issue that people shouldn’t be supporting a FALSE illusion as opposed to a REAL illusion or maybe they hoping that these idol-chasers are dumb and can be herded like sheeps to a new seemingly realistic illusion (enough to pass it off as REAL anyway)?

Its kind of hard to give a perfect judgement here.The fact that all the while she is portrayed (and still using that excuse as of now) as an innocent sweet 17 idol give fans a huge disappointment when all sex scandals surfaced. It would not be a much fuss if she had not been such a staunch worship on being a goody girl previously. Compared to Cecelia Cheung (which i believe will sooner or later scandal will be hotter), i will give a level of acceptance since she has been a Baddy Girl all the while. First of all, I neither love her nor hate her.
I might have a teeny bit of sympathy for her, but after watching her in a press conference (regarding the Genting scandal) with her ‘anguished tears’, I can’t help but NOT feel anything for her at all.
She was sobbing about how to face her young fans after pics of her in a state of undress during a wardrobe change in Genting Highlands, etc etc. But in this scandal, where she’s seen happily spreading her legs and opening her mouth wide for EDC - I admit I was extremely surprised that she looked so calm in the press conference. Not exactly the reaction expected from a girl who made a tearful bru-ha-ha over several pics of her wearing a brassiere backstage. Guess she realise that she can’t play the ‘victimized poor girl’ role any more.
As stated in the chinese newspapers today, alot of people, especially parents were telling her to stop ‘pretending’ and asking for sympathy.
Personally, I don’t blame her for having sex with whomever she wants. However, I do blame her for pretending to be an innocent and victimized ‘poor girl’ during the Genting scandal. Don’t pretend to be innocent when you’re not and don’t make a fool of the public.

It’s sad no doubt but people do not have to be proactive in supporting her.
I wouldn’t want to see her in the entertainment industry where little kids are misled into thinking that such behaviour is acceptable and they can get away with it. Otherwise kids will grow up with the misconception that an apology is enough patronisation and it settles it all.
When it comes to moral values, we are already waging a constant war and Gillian should bear the consequences for her actions. People should learn to really think before they act, whether the consequences are worth the deed. Even if they were naive or foolish, it doesn’t mean that the world owes them forgiveness just because they have apologised. Sympathy and compassion should not be taken for granted or due her.
Supporting her? By continuing to buy her CDs, watch her shows and exclaim how wonderful she is?
As a female, I feel sorry for her. I guess not verbally abusing her and criticising the pictures is the extent i would go to ’support’ her. I wonder how her ’supporters’ would go about ’supporting’ her. More importantly, if they have kids, would they want their kids to ’support’ her? It’s widely known in the Hong Kong entertainment industry that the TWINS got into Empire records in the first place through interesting means. It definately wasn’t based on talent because last time I checked. . . they couldn’t sing or act. But they definately looked the part of sweet innocent pre-teen idols that examplify everything that’s pure and sweet about “girls”. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sex, but I think the wall of lies that are created around these idols are brain washing the young. Of course everyone have their own life and are free to choose what kind of life we wanted it to be, but no matter what choice we made, we have to responsible for it. It’s just those idiotic bastard that start circulating the picture around for the sake of maybe fun or money. But they did not consider the fact that they are already hurting others. And for edison, it’s right that he take responsiblity. It’s not wrong to have sex. Not wrong to take pictures. BUT it’s damn wrong to keep those pictures. When you break off with the girlfriend, he should delete it instead of keeping it. Taking these picture is kind of a pervertic act to prove his strength or even to show off or what. It’s because of his selfish act that lead that land him in this big mess.
Lastly, i just hope people can give gillian a chance. Not a big fan of hers. But seen her worked really hard to achieve what she have now. She may not be really talented. But without putting in effort and hardwork, she won’t be able to achieve all these. Everyone makes mistake. And this mistake is also not made on purpose. Thus, we should all give her a chance. Furthermore, she is still relatively young. Let go this matter. Stop circulating these picture around.

It shows manners to apologise but I still don’t know what he did wrong. No one needs to ‘accept’ his apology except the girls directly involved. Because she’s a hypocrite. She should have admitted in the first place instead of lying to the public about the “fake” photos. Don’t forget her convenient “apology” only came after it became impossible to deny she did it any longer.

twins innocent image is over… sorry gillian but its true. I dont know why edison has to come out to talk to the public… like sure he took the pics and he’s a playa and a perv but he got the pics STOLEN from his laptop. So, these are my reasons for defending edison:
1) It wasn’t edc that posted the images, it was STOLEN
2) If something like this happens, anyone in edc’s shoes would have left hk for awhile to cool off… look at gillian and frds, gone for 2 weeks or more
3) what is the point in edc coming out for a talk with the media? to say i’m sorry im a perv for playing with horny um.. sluts? um.. ok.. since the girls weren’t forced to or else there wouldn’t be like 500+ pics

I support both of them. But why do most people support Edison than Gillian? Both of them are victims, and like some of you people quoted “they are just humans”. So what about celebrities?
